What's happening in 2010
In 2010 Adventure Education will be introducing the Certificate in Bicycle Mechanics Level 3 and 4 qualifications. The initial focus will be BIANZ members who have specialist workshops and existing experienced staff who are looking to be qualified and registered with as professionals in the New Zealand bike industry.
The initial intakes for the level 4 qualification will be primarily those experienced bike mechanics who are interested in achieving both level 3 and 4 including the workplace trainer strand.
The objective is to qualify existing experienced bike mechanics in registered workplaces so that they can then facilitate the on-job training and assessment tasks required for the lower level qualification for entry level staff working or participating in work experience in the future.
- BIANZ's objective is to provide a national organisation for retailers, manufacturers, importers and distributors in order to develop the retail cycle industry in New Zealand
- BIANZ is involved in the raising of retail and technical standards in the cycle trade
- BIANZ will keep the industry informed about these Bike Mechanic qualifications
- BIANZ is a member of Bike NZ [www.BikeNZ.org.nz] which is the umbrella body for all national bike and cycling organisations also including, current member organisations, BMX NZ, Cycling NZ, Mountain Bike NZ and NZ Schools Cycling Association
